一直以来,我把落英当成落花,毫不生疑。至被人点破时,才愕然睁大眼睛,瞅了又瞅,想了又想,竟释然一笑,原谅了自己的愚钝。我不怕愚钝,每次被开光后,心里都有一种豁然,这比自作聪明而时时心生后悔,要难得的多。
就从落英说起吧,“落”是开始之意。乍读时,吃惊不小;细想,却不无道理。接着便想到屈原《离骚》中“夕餐秋菊之落英”之句,那么落英也就是菊花的花瓣了。记得年少时读到此处,便走神了,以为屈原有异食癖,吃菊花已很见怪了,还吃枯萎落地的花瓣,就更不可思议。好在老师及时点拨,让我明白这是为诗的手法,是借此表达自己高洁之志,并非真的就吃菊花。但到底心里有些不服气,以为这样写不知要贻误多少人。
后来,读郑思肖的咏菊诗,有“宁肯枝头抱香死,不曾坠落北风中”,知道菊花是不落蕊的,遂又想到屈原,想到那落英不是枯萎掉落的菊花,而是枝头初生初绽的菊花,并情不自禁,揣测嫩菊的滋味。毕竟没有体验,只能空想而已。
大凡乡下之人,都有果吃花的经历。诸如我少年时,在田野放牛就采食过带露的紫云英,那份鲜嫩、清香、津甜,一直记忆犹新。也吃过母亲用黄花煎的鸡蛋,用南瓜花摊的面饼,虽不能用言辞描述,但味道还在,咂咂舌头,仿佛还能回味。但终究不是秋菊之落英,至于两者差别,也只能了了。
人到中年后,读陶渊明,方知道他更有吃菊的嗜好。他以菊花煎茶,以菊花摊饼,以菊花酿酒,加之种菊、采菊、晒菊,差不多陷进菊花里去了,难怪连他老伴也戏称他为“菊痴”。陶渊明是一个最懂菊花,也最爱菊花的人,可惜他的诗文里,竟没有描写吃菊的句子,哪怕只言片语,也能给我们一个想头。
我教《桃花源记》,至“芳草鲜美,落英缤纷”时,不仅打住,目光停在“落英缤纷”一词上很久,曾以为是残春之景,现在想来,不免哑然。若是凋谢的桃花,应是“乱红”,应是遍地,应是狼藉,而非“缤纷”。缤纷是花开得盛,开得绚烂,而这正与“芳草鲜美”一句相映生辉。若是残春败景,以陶氏的真性情,是要流露出伤感的。
落英不是落花,落红也不是。龚自珍《己亥杂诗》有“落红不是无情物,化作春泥更护花”。花发枝头,已想着化泥护花,更见情深,可我们的目光和思想,却被春泥扯到地上,这是不思的结果。
笛卡尔说,人是一根有思想的芦苇。可很多时候,我们只做了芦苇。
还有一句话说,我思故我在。可更多时,仅仅是我在思不在。
丧失思考是可怕的,仅以此文,权当对自己的一次提醒。虽然晚了些,但有提醒,总比浑浑噩噩,被别人牵着脑子走,要好千百倍。

吟版好文。亲身体验,读来真切!
我们读书也常常望文生义的。但把它传授给学生,却又有些误人子弟了,呵呵。比如李白“床前明月光”的“床”应作“井口的栏杆”解,是我从郭沫若有关训诂篇中受到教益的。
