WHO AM I ?
A seven-year-old ABC (American-born Chinese) moved to Suzhou a few months ago. It was her first time to step out of her birth country U.S.A. She managed to learn some Chinese in the new environment.
One day, when she was playing on the playground, a local woman asked her,
"你是哪里人?"
" 美国人," answered the girl in Chinese.
The woman giggled a little and then repeated in a different tone ,
”美国人?"
On another occasion, when the girl was asked the same question, she hesitated, and then replied,
" 台湾人。" |

Dear Lake and nightingale2,
Thank you very much for your comments.
The girl was frustrated for a good reason, wasn't she...
Have a nice day! |
