grass pushes
through the breeze
and the melting snow
listening to the birds
I miss your spring verse

a fresh wind flirts
this long-awaited sun
my legs race
along a gurgling creek
leaving winter behind

helpless on the couch
my once vigorous father
points to the clivia
that unfurls its petals
in the morning dew

along the floor board
on the carpet a wet stain
where mould grows
day by day, a young heart
gradually filled with mildew
