Outreach Coordinator
Full-time – May 20 - August 29, 2008
The Chinese Canadian National Council (CCNC) is seeking to hire an energetic post-secondary student interested in a rewarding opportunity to work this summer with a national human rights organization.
The position is based in Toronto, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
• Outreach to newcomers, seniors and youth
• Updating and redesigning our websites
• Researching Chinese Canadian history and current issues
• Compiling and updating data records
• Organizing our resource library
• Organizing meetings and events
• Other related duties
You will have the following qualifications:
• University or College level studies: marketing, social sciences, social work
• Excellent English language communications skills; written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese or other dialects) and French is an asset
• Knowledge of issues concerning Chinese Canadians
• Knowledge of and experience in website design and updating websites
• Ability to work in a MS office environment
• Ability to work with newcomers, seniors and youth and to work in a team environment
• Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work to multiple deadlines
• Knowledge of and community experience in applying an anti-oppression and anti-racism analysis
You will meet the following eligibility requirements:
• registered as a full-time student during the previous academic year and planning to return to school full-time in September 2008
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the time of selection
Duration: 14 weeks X 35 hours per week, with some evening and weekend assignments
Salary: $350 per week based on 35 hour week
Deadline for application: Wednesday April 30, 2008 at 5:00 pm EST
