Love - is it a dreamy word ?

What is love? It is a large topic I don't really know. Nevertheless, I have received a lot of love from others, and had given a lot of love to people.

Today, my teacher asked all of the students to discuss what is love. Someone of our classmates said: “Love is a bump in the heart.” and another said: “Love comes from hormones”; someone said: “Love can be given to lots of people.” and someone else said: “Love is only for a boyfriend.” After the discussion, I did some computer research on Google, and found some dictums regarding love, such as:

“One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is love.” - Sophocles
“Attention is the most basic form of love; through it we bless and are blessed.” - John Tarrant
“We love because it's the only true adventure.” - Nikki Giovanni
“Love is like quicksilver in the hand.”

In my opinion, the result of discussion and research is that: “Everyone can feel love, but nobody can find the exact words to explain it.”

My teacher asked all of us to write an essay about love, if we do it, she will give us five bonus marks. I want the bonus, but how can I get it? I feel a little confused because I don’t know how to write an essay about something I do not really understand. Suddenly, a story flashed upon my mind - the story is one my friend told me:

“I never think about the love carefully, but after I came to Canada, I started to think about it. Because my husband is a businessman, he always travels around China, Canada and other countries. Once, I was so sick. As an immigrant lady, only my daughter lived with me, and since she was a little girl, she could not take care of me. I felt very upset, I called my husband and told him that I was sick. He did not say anything – there was silence for about three minutes. Then he said: “Get some medicine, take care of yourself.” I felt very sad at the time, and I asked myself, does he still loves me?

A few months later, I went back to China, and told my brother in law about the thing with little angry. My brother in law said he knew that with a smile. I felt very surprised, how does he knew it? He laughed, “Your husband told me you were sick, but he was in China and couldn’t take care of you. He felt very bad. When he talked with me, he was in tears.” I could not believe that, because my husband never cries when he faces me.
If someone asks me, what love is now, my answer is very simple: If someone cries for you when you are sick, this is love, it is really love.”
Do you think the lady is right? I believe her.

Love - it is a dreamy word? Right now, I prefer to believe the love is a sincere and serious word.

Good essay! I like reading it aloud.

There are so many kinds of love, I think.

But the leading love lies in hearts, words and

actions.

谢谢道模, 最近写太多ESSAY, 现在一见英文就头痛. 婆婆还是没亲娘亲. 朋友们给我诗歌的建议也没敢细看. Razz
