TTC Seasonal Maintenance & Summer Job OpportunitiesInformation Sheet
Target Group:

Youth 16-29 living in the priority neighbourhoods* (see below) or Regent Park/St. Jamestown, who are out of work, out of school, experiencing a difficult time entering the workforce and who have been provided with pre-employment support and identified as ready to work.

Job Opportunities:

Maintenance Recruitment – Temporary Employment (approx. 6-8 months) and Summer Student Opportunities (approx. 5 months – for this specific initiative youth should not be students and should not be returning to school in September). Please note most positions involve working outdoors with various shifts including midnights and weekends. Further details of the opportunities will be shared at the information session.

Referral Process:

Youth that meet the above criteria can be referred directly to one of the four information sessions by their supporting community agency/Youth Employment Toronto Worker or phone 416-397-7317. Please ensure youth have a resume to bring to the interview along with three references.

Recruitment Process:

No pre-registration is required however youth will be requested to register at the event and will be asked to identify the area of the city they reside in to ensure the focus is on youth who live within the priority neighbourhoods. At the information session senior TTC Human Resource staff will provide in-depth information on the job opportunities along with realistic expectations. At the end of the presentation youth interested in attending interviews will be provided with an application form and given a scheduled interview time. Job developers and YET workers will be on hand to ensure support is provided to the youth (i.e. ensure youth have appropriate resumes, assist with completion of application forms if required, provide TTC tickets, connect to additional employment supports through youth employment programs/TSS) TTC staff will short list from the pool of applicants and the resumes of successful applicants will be referred to specific departments and youth will be called in for second interviews. A commitment has been made to hire (re-hire)100 youth for the seasonal maintenance and summer job opportunities combined.
