Without breakfast he reties and ties,
Glances at the messages missed overnight,
Hurries to merge into the flows of pedestrians to work
and salutes the red traffic light by roadside.

Imagining when he would own his own Buick
Brilliant as leaders down from the Red Square
Dwells on a garret with some unemployed students
A taxi comes to a stop not for him to take.

An apple core flies overhead from a certain window
Wow! May it not be an act of terrorist attack.
Hastens to follow the skirt flitting so familiar
just a replica of that of his female superior.

The high-heeled hit and dot the pavement
to play a monotonous tune on a broken organ.
He gets on a bus and then transfers to another
taking a longer road to avoid the Olympic site.

The news stall has changed its maid
Crossroads are guarded by handsome policemen.
Suddenly somebody claims to have been robbed
The bus goes non-stop to a police station.

One hour later for the roll calling
The widow face to his excuses would never be listening
Perhaps she is not in her mood?
Or has dismissed her new male friend?

Baozi for lunch, onion plus pork, his favorite!
What strange smell or who smokes?
Not the staff but the stuffing is to be blame.
Foul messages from the mobile become epidemic.

Calls and visits arrive one after another.
A wedding ceremony of an old classmate
A funeral of the manager’s father
A donation to a quake area…

Knocking off, he is kept by his female superior
to talk over to become a Party member
The sun is set and his ends come pat
Well, a barbecue for dinner
over a glass of Tsingtao Beer.
